Connect ClickBank to Nevian

Time needed: about 10 minutesLast updated:

Send every ClickBank sale, rebill, refund and chargeback to Nevian with ClickBank's Instant Notification Service, so each one shows up next to the ad that brought the buyer.

What you need

  • Your ClickBank login and the account nickname you sell or promote with.
  • Instant notifications turned on for that nickname. If ClickBank shows a Request Access link next to Instant Notification URL, click it, fill in the form, accept the terms and click Save Changes & Request API Access first.
  • A Nevian workspace with an active plan (Beginner, Pro or Enterprise), where you are the owner, an admin or a member. Viewers can't connect integrations.
  • The two tabs side by side: Nevian on Integrations and your ClickBank account.

Steps

  1. In Nevian, open Integrations, click Add integration (Connect provider when nothing is connected yet) and pick ClickBank. In the Connect ClickBank window, have the platform open in another tab, then click Next to get your private URL.

  2. Nevian creates your private Webhook URL. Click the copy button next to it and leave this window open: you paste ClickBank's secret key in it in step 5.

The Webhook URL in the Connect ClickBank window, with its copy button highlighted, the line Waiting for the first event and an empty Secret key field.
  3. In ClickBank, pick your account nickname on the Accounts tab, open the Vendor Settings tab, click My Site and click Edit in the Advanced Tools section.

ClickBank's My Site page under Vendor Settings, with the Edit button of the Advanced Tools section highlighted.
  4. In Secret Key, type a key you make up, up to 16 characters of capital letters and numbers, and click Save Changes. If the field already has a key, keep it and copy it: other tools may use it.

The Advanced Tools form in ClickBank with a made-up key in Secret Key and the Save Changes button highlighted.
  5. Back in Nevian, paste the same key in Secret key and click Next. ClickBank encrypts every notification with this key, so Nevian needs it before the test arrives.

The Connect ClickBank window with the secret key pasted in the Secret key field and the Next button highlighted.
  6. In ClickBank, click Edit in Advanced Tools again, paste the URL in Instant Notification URL and click Test URL. When ClickBank marks the URL Verified, click Save Changes.

The Nevian URL in ClickBank's Instant Notification URL field, with the Test URL button highlighted and the URL marked Verified.
  7. In Nevian, the ClickBank card in Integrations now says Connected.

Check that it works

  • The ClickBank card in Integrations says Connected and shows the time of the last event.
  • Logs › Webhooks lists ClickBank's test notification, with the type TEST. Nevian only logs it: a test never counts in revenue or conversions.
  • For real sales, keep the Nevian tracking script on the pages with your ClickBank links. It adds the click ID to every link to hop.clickbank.net (as tid), and ClickBank sends it back in each notification, so the sale lands on the right ad.
  • Rebills arrive as recurring sales. A cancelled subscription is logged in Logs › Webhooks and changes no sale.

Problems

ClickBank doesn't mark the URL Verified

Nevian refuses a notification it can't decrypt, and ClickBank then reports the test as failed. Make sure the secret key is saved in Nevian (step 5) before you click Test URL, and that the whole URL is in the field. ClickBank expects an answer within 3 seconds; after a failed delivery it tries again every four hours, at most five times.

"ClickBank reached Nevian, but the call was rejected"

The reason under the line tells which case it is. "The ClickBank secret key is not set on this source" means the key was never saved: you clicked Close instead of Done. "Could not be decrypted with the secret key set on this source" means the two keys differ. In both cases, click the ClickBank card in Integrations, open the Connection tab (click Replace if a key is already saved), paste the key exactly as it is in ClickBank (capital letters matter) and click Save, then click Test URL in ClickBank again.

The Instant Notification URL already has another tool's URL

Leave it there and paste the Nevian URL in Instant Notification 2, with the same steps. ClickBank has one secret key per account nickname, so use the key that is already there in Nevian too, instead of a new one.

"no matching click" on a real sale

The test never has a click, so this is normal there. On a real sale it means the buyer reached ClickBank without the click ID: check that the Nevian tracking script is on the page with your ClickBank link, or that the offer in Offers has tid={clickid} in its link.

ClickBank explains the notifications in its own Instant Notification Service guide.
